Trump’s Plan To ‘Save Jobs’ Backfires, Carrier Plant He Saved Is Laying Off Hundreds
According to a CNN report released Tuesday, the Carrier factory Donald Trump forced to stay in the U.S. and not move to Mexico will be laying off hundreds of worker right before the holiday season.
The Indianapolis furnace plant made a promise to stay in the U.S. after they made a deal with Trump late last year, but they have announced that more than 600 people will be losing their jobs.
But Trump already knew that hundreds would lose jobs since the company made that clear last year in their initial announcement.
To make matters worse, Trump took credit for saying over 1,100 jobs at the factory back in December.
“Here’s what’s going to happen,” Trump told a crowd in Indianapolis last year. “I’ll get a call from the head of Carrier and he’ll say, ‘Mr. President, we’ve decided to stay in the United States.’ That’s what’s going to happen — 100 percent.”
