Trump’s Troubles Continue As Mueller Obtains Draft Of His Comey Firing Letter

The New York Times reported on Friday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has obtained a draft of Trump’s letter firing former FBI Director James Comey.

According to The Times:

“The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, has obtained a letter that President Trump and a top political aide drafted in the days before Mr. Trump fired the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, which explains the president’s rationale for why he planned to dismiss the director. The May letter had been met with opposition from Donald F. McGahn II, the White House counsel, who believed that some of its contents were problematic, according to interviews with a dozen administration officials and others briefed on the matter.”

It is unsure how Mueller came about the letter, but given the sensitivity of the effort to fire Comey, it is assumed that someone in the White House put it in the hands of Mueller.

This is bad news for Trump, as the letter could reveal the real motive for firing Comey. If Mueller collects enough evidence that shows obstruction of justice, Trump’s days at the White House could be numbered.

Looks like a pardon won’t get you out of this one Donald Trump.
