Virginia GOP Head Resigns, Says He Won’t Work For A Trump-Loving Pro-Confederate Candidate
John Whitbeck, the head of the Virginia Republican Party, announced his resignation on Saturday, claiming that he won’t work for a Senate candidate that supports Donald Trump.
Whitbeck’s resignation came after the state’s primary was won by Corey Stewart, a Trump-loving ultra-Conservative who has advocated protecting the state’s Confederate monuments.
According to the Associated Press, “Stewart is a conservative provocateur who has frequently mocked members of his own party.” And after winning the primary, he promised to run a “vicious campaign” against incumbent Tim Kaine.
Whitbeck apparently wanted no part of it, as he is resigning to pursue “other opportunities.”
