WATCH – GOP Lawmaker Sticks To New Low Defending Trump With This Ridiculous Excuse

Some Republicans are getting more and more ridiculous when defending Donald Trump. On Friday Rep. Ron Desantis (R-FL.) wasn’t the exception when he tried to say Trump was joking when he thanked Putin for expelling U.S. diplomatic staff from Russia.

According to the Congressman, after being asked by MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson about Trump thanking Putin, the president was just joking about it.

“I interpret that as being more tongue in cheek.”

Jackson pushed, “He didn’t smile.”

Desantis continued to cover for Trump, “That’s just kind of the nature of how he’s done it. He didn’t want to make it seem like something that really had affected us negatively.”

Desantis’ comments were out of the blue. He was asked by Jackson if he had talked to the president since he made those Putin comments.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him since he made that comment. No,” Desantis answered

The excuses for Donald Trump seem to be getting more and more ridiculous. If Republicans continue this path of covering for such and unpopular president they will pay the cost in 2018 when chairs go up for reelection.
