Watch Jim Jordan Fall Flat On His Face After Saying He’s Never Heard Trump Lie
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper confronted Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) Monday night, questioning whether the conservative lawmaker believes President Trump lies.
Cooper grilled the conservative lawmaker on the topic of whether he’d ever heard President Donald Trump lie. After trying to deflect the question, Jordan eventually shook his head and said, “I have not.”
“I’ve never heard the president… He’s always been square with me, that’s for darn sure,” Jordan said when asked if he’d heard Trump make false claims. When Cooper pressed the lawmaker on whether Trump had said untrue things to the public, Jordan attempted to deflect the question, hesitating over his answer, and then said, “I don’t know of it. Nothing comes to mind.”
“You got to admit, this president has said things which are just demonstrably not true time and time again. The list is a very long one, almost on a daily basis,” Cooper said.
Jordan shot back, saying former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe “has said things that aren’t true.”
“So you’re very bold in calling out Andrew McCabe, not so bold on the president of the United States,” Cooper said. “You haven’t heard the president lie?”
Jordan said the president has always been “square” with him. When pressed on whether Trump has ever lied to the American people, Jordan said voters elected Trump to the White House.
“Have you ever heard the president lie?” Cooper asked again.
“I have not,” Jordan said.
Jordan said “nothing comes to mind” when asked again whether the president has ever said something publicly that is a lie.
The exchange came when the two were discussing comments made by former FBI Director James Comey.
During an interview that aired Sunday, Comey said he thinks Trump is “morally unfit to be president.” He described the president as a serial liar and a “stain” on everyone who worked for him.
Trump has lashed out in recent days against Comey, referring to him as a “slimeball” and saying he will go down as the worst FBI director in history.
