Watch Sarah Sanders Go Down In Flames After CNN’s Jim Acosta Tears Apart Her ‘Fake News’ Argument
White House press secretary had a meltdown after CNN White House Correspondent Jim Acosta destroyed her “fake news” claim by asking her to provide one example of a mainstream reporter refusing to correct a mistake.
“Journalists make honest mistakes and that doesn’t make them fake news,” Acosta told Sanders at Monday’s White House press briefing.
“When journalists make honest mistakes, they should own up to them,” Sanders interrupted.
“They do,” Acosta replied.
“Sometimes,” Sanders opined. “And a lot of times you don’t.”
Acosta tried to object but Sanders continued: “I’m not finished! There is a very big difference between making an honest mistake and purposefully misleading the American people, something that happens regularly.”
“I’m not done,” Sanders snapped again as another reporter tried to chime in. “You cannot say that it’s an honest mistake when you are purposefully putting out information that you know to be false. Or when you are taking information that hasn’t been validated, that hasn’t been offered any credibility, that has been continually denied by a number of people.”
Acosta then challenged Sanders to “cite a specific story that you say is intentionally false, that was intentionally put out there to mislead the American people.”
Sanders cited an ABC report by Brian Ross that incorrectly stated former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was prepared to testify against Trump. Sanders assertion is wrong because the report was corrected within minutes after being published.
