Watch: Sarah Sanders Lashes Out And Abruptly Ends Press Briefing After Calling The Media ‘Divisive’
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held a press conference on Monday after nearly a month where she tried to flip the script and defend Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric by claiming that the media is responsible for dividing the country.
During the briefing, MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson pushed Sanders to give a reason why Trump has been on the attack and if it had to do with the midterms.
“No, it’s not because of the midterms,” Sanders claimed. “I’ve defended the president fighting back when he’s regularly attacked, there’s a difference.” she said. “Doesn’t matter if there’s a midterm. The president is going to fight back.”
Jackson then noted that Trump said he would “tone down” his hateful rhetoric but his actions have proven otherwise.
“But at what point, does a national tragedy take precedence over the president needing to punch back?” Jackson asked.
“It would be nice if every once in a while we could focus on the positive things the president has done instead of just attacking him,” Sanders answered before storming off and abruptly ending the briefing.
