On Sunday, while appearing on Fox News, Florida congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) decided to make an “OK” gesture that represents “white power.”
Gaetz’s gesture came after a Trump aide named Zina Bash faced backlash for making the gesture during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court.
Bash had first made the gesture on Tuesday’s hearing. After receiving backlash, the Trump aide appeared to make the gesture yet again later that week.

If I had wrongly been accused of mouthing rude words and purposely making a White Power symbol on National television behind Kavanaugh on his first day of questions, you can bet I would not make that same mistake twice. But I guess that's just me, Zina Bash. pic.twitter.com/GWXXa2nphm

Gaetz appeared on Jesse Watters’ Fox News show and made the gesture as “a joke.”
“Matt, don’t make that hand-gesture, they’re going to freeze-frame it,” Watters joked.
“I know, right?” Gaetz said. “It just shows you the extent to which people want to focus on the absurd, rather than the substance.”
