Watchdog: Mnuchin Spent Over $1 Million On Military Flights
According to documents gathered by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington(CREW), Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin spent about $1 million on a total of seven military flights between the spring and fall of last year.
Back in August, CREW sued to release records of a highly publicized trip between Mnuchin and his wife Louise Linton to Fort Knox, Kentucky.
“The public still has no reasonable explanation for why Secretary Mnuchin apparently has never used commercial aircraft while his predecessors did, or why he needs military aircraft that can accommodate 120 passengers when his travel manifests contain far fewer names,” said Anne Weismann, an official for the left-leaning government watchdog.
Mnuchin is not the only one in Donald Trump’s cabinet that are spending ridiculous amounts of taxpayer dollars.
Health Secretary Tom Price had to resign after it was revealed that he spent over $400,000 in taxpayer money on chartered flights.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson planned to spend $31,000 on a dining set for his office but ended up canceling the purchase after a wave of criticism.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke spent $139,000 on a new set of doors for his office.
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt constantly flies first class, despite the availability of far cheaper options.
Trump himself constantly uses taxpayer dollars to make trips to his properties.
