The National Rifle Association (NRA) has released a disturbing ad featuring right-wing commentator Dana Loesch angrily threatening The New York Times.
In the 50-second ad, titled “We’re Coming For You New York Times,” the far-right NRA pundit furiously calls The New York Times a series of names, aimed at smearing the newspaper’s credibility. However, at no point in the ad cites specific examples of New York Times deception. The piece was designed as an intimidation weapon against The Times.
“We the people, we’ve had it. We’ve had it with your fake news, your false narratives. We’ve had it with your constant protection of your Democrat overlords,” a visibly angry Loesch starts. “We’re going to fist the New York Times and find out just what deep rich means to this old gray hag. This untrustworthy dishonest rag that has subsisted on the welfare of mediocrity for one, two, three decades. We’re going to laser focus on your so-called honest pursuit of truth. In short: We’re coming for you,” she adds.

The ad follows Jeff Sessions announcement at a press conference Friday of a new crackdown on leakers that will include a Justice Department (DOJ) review of policies governing how the department deals with media outlets that publish leaked information.
In an escalation of the administration’s campaign against what it claims are hostile branches of the media, Sessions announced that part of the focus of the new anti-leakers crackdown would be the press.
The similarities between President Donald Trump and Middle Eastern and African dictators, for installing his family in senior advisory positions in the White House as much as his excessive self-regard and his respect for military tough men, and now threatening the free press through his Attorney General and supporters like the NRA, is becoming more evident.
