While many families are mourning over the death of their children following the horrific school shooting in Parkland, Florida, one White House official is glad the shooting happened because it “distracted” the media from the Robert Porter scandal.
A White House official, who asked to remain anonymous, spoke with the Washington Post and said the mass shooting took some of the heat off the Trump White House for its handling of Porter, who was fired after news surfaced that he beat his two former wives.
“For everyone, it was a distraction or a reprieve,” the official said. “A lot of people here felt like it was a reprieve from seven or eight days of just getting pummeled.”
But the White House official didn’t stop there. He said that he’ll lament the day when coverage of the shooting dies down because it’ll switch the focus back to the Trump administration scandals.
“But as we all know, sadly, when the coverage dies down a little bit, we’ll be back through the chaos,” the official said.
