A new report has revealed that even people in Donald Trump’s administration believe that Fox News host Sean Hannity plays an influence in the decisions the president makes. Some of Trump’s White House staffers refer to Hannity as the president’s unofficial chief of staff.
According to The Washington Post, Trump calls Hannity several times a week to discuss many manners, including policy, personnel, and even his tweets.
“He basically has a desk in the place,” a presidential adviser told The Post.
White House staffers told The Post that Hannity is Trump’s “shadow” chief of staff and that he’s more influential than White House chief of staff John Kelly.
“The bottom line is, during the heat of the campaign when relationships are forged, he was always there, offering good advice, in person and on television,” Trump’s former deputy campaign manager David Bossie told The Post of Hannity. “The president sees him as an incredibly smart and articulate spokesman for the agenda.”
It was revealed earlier this week that Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen has also been representing Hannity. This raised concerns as Hannity has been speaking on his news show against the ongoing investigation into Russia’s meddling in the election while also calling out the FBI for raiding Cohen’s office.
