In a stunning revelation, a pro-Trump white supremacist group says that Nikolas Cruz, the man accused of killing 17 people in a Florida high school, did paramilitary exercises with the group and got a rifle from members, The Daily Beast reported Thursday.
Nikolas Cruz, the man accused of killing 17 people in a Florida high school, was a member of “Republic of Florida,” a “white separatist paramilitary proto-fascist organization,” the group told the publication. Ex-students say he wore a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat in school.
Prior to the shooting, Cruz trained with the Republic of Florida, the group’s captain Jordan Jereb revealed to the Anti-Defamation League.
Jereb said Cruz belonged to a RoF “cell” from Clearwater and drove up with members to Tallahassee to do paramilitary training. RoF was recently operating in Tallahassee and attempting to court new members, according to a local news report from last year. The group posts videos of training montages on the internet with members in fatigues brandishing weapons.
The group describes itself as a “white civil rights organization fighting for white identitarian politics” that specifically seeks to “occupy urban areas to recruit suburban young whites” in the hopes of ultimately creating a “white ethnostate” in the state of Florida.
The election of Donald Trump, his continual use of racial dog-whistles and the systematic application of a white supremacist immigration agenda has empowered and emboldened white supremacist groups to poke their filthy heads out of the warrens in which they once hid, daring to show their faces and march in public once again.
While the President and his racist Republicans cronies constantly fearmonger about immigrants and criminal gangs like MS-13, the real threats to the American people – white supremacist conservative men – continues to be neglected and ignored by law enforcement agencies.
Make no mistake. The biggest threat to the American people right now are white, conservative, straight, Christian males – and the President of the United States is refusing to condemn them. Murders by white supremacists doubled last year from the year before, but still, we hear not a word from either the police or our politicians, half of whom are too busy egging them on to voice any complaints for the bodies they leave in their wake.
