On Thursday, CNN convened a panel of Trump supporters to debate the allegations leveled against defeated Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore and things got weird when one fellow panelist offered a stunning excuse for Moore’s alleged behavior.
After Trump voter Kim Dowdle, who said that she believes Moore’s accusers, explained that many girls in the South are taught to keep quiet if they get abused by powerful men, fellow Trump voter Jimmy Dozier interjected to call the women “liars.”
Host Alisyn Camerota then asked Dozier if there was anything that could make him believe Moore’s accusers.
“Well, first of all, he hadn’t done anything to them,” Dozier said. “They said he’d ask them out — they didn’t say he raped them.”
This caused Dowdle’s eyes to grow wide as she raised up her hands and said, “Whoa, whoa!”
Camerota then pointed out that one of Moore’s accusers said she felt Moore was going to try to rape her, but Dozier was still dismissive.
“How do you feel like, ‘I’m going to try to rape you?’” he asked. “That’s wrong!”
“If you’re ripping someone’s shirt off, and forcibly kissing them,” Camerota replied.
“He had his clothes off!” exclaimed Dowdle.
