Wilbur Ross Busted For Threatening To Fire NOAA Staffer Who Called Out Trump’s Lies About Hurricane Dorian
It has been reported that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross threatened to fire an NOAA staffer after the National Weather Service in Birmingham corrected Donald Trump’s false claim that Hurricane Dorian would hit Alabama.
According to three sources who spoke with The New York Times, Ross intervened two days after the Twitter exchange. He called acting NOAA administrator Neil Jacobs while in Greece and told Jacobs to “fix” the contradiction.
Jacobs reportedly objected to Ross’ demands and Ross responded by saying that the political staff at NOAA would be fired if nothing was fixed.
The National Weather Service Director went further into rebuking Trump’s claims.
In a meeting Monday, Louis Uccellini said that forecasters in Birmingham “did what any office would do to protect the public” when they issued the rebuke of Trump.
Ross is now facing backlash for attempting to get rid of an official who stood up to Trump and people are calling for him to be fired.
This is an outrage and Wilbur Ross should be fired. Or if he was directed to do this by the White House, he should have resigned.
Wilbur Ross is also responsible for the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the Census, and if bad but truthful numbers displease him, we're in trouble. https://t.co/Kj73RtYQtf

This is only the most recent among the dozens of reasons why Wilbur Ross should go. Someone please wake him up and tell him its time to go home. https://t.co/1LMWmi8xSU

Congressional Democrats should be calling on Wilbur Ross to resign immediately. If he refuses they should impeach him. What he’s accused of is unbelievably dangerous and a flagrant misuse of power

This White House has really upped state disinformation to a North Korean level.
Wilbur Ross should be fired immediately. Instead, Trump will reward this high toadying. https://t.co/oQssenyJGU
